Walking & Hiking

With Clayquot Sound spanning 350,000 hectares, there is no shortage of terrain to explore.  Some of the most stunning and accessible trails are found in the majestic Pacific Rim National Park.  From gentle walkways through old growth rainforests to more rugged terrain along the shoreline, this is a perfect way to experience the wild and natural beauty of the west coast of Vancouver Island.

Sea Kayaking

Whether you are paddling in the tranquil waters of a protected harbour, the clear, blue waters of a secluded family of islands off the coast or the open waters of the Pacific Ocean, kayakers will enjoy a unique opportunity to view the abundant wildlife and vegetation indigenous to this area.  Keep an eye out for black bears, eagles, seals, sea-lions and maybe even some whales in the distance.

Known as Canada's surf capital, with 35 kms of open coastline, Tofino is a year-round cold water surf destination.  Perfect for beginners or more experienced surfers, there is nothing better being on your board and looking back at the spectacular coastline right in front of you.

Storm Watching

Experience the awe-inspiring winter storm season as the powerful winds, pounding waves and giant swells descend upon the west coast of Vancouver Island.  Lasting from early November to the end of February, pull up a chair, sip a hot beverage, and watch the power of nature unfold before your eyes.
